Authorities stated they were notified by a man who noticed a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.

The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.

Police then located numerous other marked automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials say initial examinations indicate the liquid was likely human blood.

"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; authorities are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.

Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the community for tips.

A senior representative commented the incident left him stunned and needed to be resolved quickly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
